A rampage in Odessa left seven killed and 25 injured, three of whom were law enforcement officials.
A Department of Public Safety state trooper, a police officer from Odessa and a police officer from Midland police were shot while attempting to stop Seth Aaron Ator, 36, whose shooting spree ended when he was killed by police officers last Saturday.

The Parker County Sheriff's Office recently announced it has joined forces with seven other counties to become a part of the North Texas Criminal Interdiction Unit.
The NTXCIU was created to help put an end to drug and human trafficking and includes officials from Parker, Tarrant, Wise, Collin, Grayson, Rockwall, Hunt and Smith counties. A deputy that has worked with the Parker County Special Crimes Unit was assigned to the mutual-aid task force.

Authorities in Carter County, Tennessee, arrested a man wanted in Texas for sexual abuse of a child Tuesday.
An arrest for Norman McKinney was issued by the Andrews County Sheriff's Office in Texas. Deputies with the Carter County Sheriff's Office then went to an apartment on Southside Road in Carter County and found McKinney and took him into custody without incident.

A law now in effect across Texas requires boaters to an emergency engine cutoff switch, known as a "kill switch," if their boat is under 26 feet in length and equipped with the mechanism. Boat drivers are required to use the cutoff if they're going faster than headway speed — basically idle speed. The change comes seven years after a San Antonio 16-year-old, Kali Gorzell, was killed during a fishing trip on the Texas coast when she was thrown from the boat and hit by the propeller. Called "Kali's Law," the regulation went into effect Sept. 1.
