The Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help locating a woman who slipped out of handcuffs and ran off into the woods when she was arrested near Canton. Deputies responded about 8 p.m. Wednesday to a call about a suspicious person in the 12000 block of Highway 19 in Canton. Authorities identified and arrested Eva Crutchfied, 36, of Edgewood who may possibly have burglarized a house.

A shooting involving a Socorro Police Department officer is under investigation, sheriff's officials said.
The shooting happened at about 3 a.m. Tuesday in Socorro, El Paso County Sheriff's Office and Socorro officials said.
The sheriff's office and the Texas Rangers are investigating the shooting.
No injuries were reported during the shooting. Details on what led up to the shooting were not disclosed.

Two Central Texas burglary suspects who were on the run have been captured in Houston. According to Bosque County Sheriff Anthony Malott, the Coryell County Sheriff's Office helped track the suspects to a Houston motel. Houston police officers made the arrest Tuesday, but jail records show the suspects were booked into the Harris County Jail Wednesday.
