A 36-year-old man sought in a July 23 shooting death at a Westside convenience store was arrested in Texas as he hid in a hurricane shelter, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff's Office had issued an arrest warrant for Julian Maxwell Williams following the shooting death of 20-year-old Christopher Tre Thurston in the store in the 7400 block of Blanding Boulevard. The warrant was on charges of murder, aggravated battery and possession of a firearm by a felon.

An East Texas woman has been arrested for child endangerment after authorities found two of her children had eaten paint and all five of her kids were living in miserable conditions. Nacogdoches County sheriff's officials say when emergency medical personnel and deputies responded to a sick call early Wednesday from the home of Meggan Barstow, 28, of Garrison, they found two children had swallowed paint left in a bedroom and that conditions in the home were unsafe.
