Williamson County Sheriff's Office wins Crime Scene Unit award

he Williamson County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit was awarded The North Texas Forensic Association’s Best Laboratory Award in Frisco.
Several agencies nominated the Crime Scene Unit for its assistance to agencies in North Texas.
According to a release from the sheriff’s office, the unit continues to share resources and expertise throughout the state to solve crimes.

Three of Texas’ 10 Most Wanted offenders are back in custody following their recent arrests. Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive Raynaldo Tijerina, of San Antonio, was arrested Sept. 6, in Fort Stockton. Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offenders Steven Powers, of Teague, was also arrested t.6, in Atlanta, Georgia, and Columbus Johnson, of Wharton, was arrested Sept. 8, in Rosenburg.

6 year old boy killed after being hit by pickup truck in Laredo area

A young boy was killed after being hit by a pickup truck.
The incident occurred around the 1400 block of Orquidia Lane in Rio Bravo, according to the Webb County Sheriff's Office.
The child, who was just 6 years of age, reportedly was being dropped off at a relative's house.

East Texas community is warned of fentanyl

East Texas sheriffs are warning the public about an increase of dangerous drugs in the area.
Large amounts of fentanyl are surfacing in some counties, while other counties continue to battle the long-term methamphetamine problem.
The color blue is showing up in several street drugs, and Rusk County Sheriff Johnwayne Valdez said this usually means it's laced with fentanyl.

Wichita County Sheriff's Office holds retirement ceremony

There was a bittersweet goodbye for seven deputies and employees at the Wichita County Sheriff’s Office.
A retirement ceremony was held at the law enforcement center thanking them for their service toward the county. Our crews spoke to one individual who was honored and here’s what he had to say.
“It’s kind of a two-edged sword,” John Glaze, retired sheriff’s deputy, said.
