Some of the arrests made at the U.S.-Mexico border this month were done with the help of the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Parnell McNamara sent a specialized team down to a border county asking for help.
“We never want to turn anybody down if we can possibly help them,” said McNamara.

Smith County Sheriff's Office identifies counterfeiting suspect

he Smith County Sheriff’s Office has shared photos of a suspect who allegedly purchased a power tool with a counterfeit check.
Update: The sheriff’s office has announced that the suspect has been identified.
On Wednesday, Sept. 7 a man at purchased a Stihl pole saw for $811.86 using a counterfeit check at Broadway Powersports on Hwy 155 South near Tyler using a fake Texas driver’s license according to the Smith County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the release, PCSO and RCSO are offering a way to help you get your packages securely during the upcoming holiday season.
They ask that your put your name on the package at the time you order, but put the sheriff’s office address.

Crane County Sheriff's Office holding hamburger benefit

The Crane County Sheriff's Office will be holding a hamburger benefit at 11 a.m. on Oct. 6.
For $10 you can get a burger from White House Meat Market, chips and a drink.
Proceeds will go to helping Correctional Officer Montay Harris and his partner, who was diagnosed with cancer four months ago. She is undergoing cancer treatment in Houston.

Arrest at threshold leads to valid protective sweep

Officers received a tip that Jason Byers, wanted on a felony arrest warrant, was staying with Angela Garges at a local motel; the officers proceeded to the hotel and knocked on the room door.
Garges answered the door and affirmed that Byers was in the room. The officers told Garges to come out of the room and an officer escorted her down the hall and around a corner.

US murder rate stayed flat in 2021 after soaring in 2020, FBI report says

The national murder rate remained flat in 2021, after skyrocketing 29.4% as the pandemic raged the year before, according to a new FBI report on crime statistics that could figure prominently in the political conversation as midterm elections approach.
Overall, the FBI estimates that violent crime decreased 1% nationally, from 1,326,600 incidents in 2020 to 1,313,200 in 2021.
