Investigators say six suspects are now in custody in the fatal shooting of a man during a San Antonio-area home invasion. The Bexar County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday announced that four more suspects had been arrested to join 18-year-olds Jason Marino and Ethan Yoast, all charged with capital murder in the Oct. 9 slaying of 37-year-old Milton Miles of Schertz.
The four were identified as 18-year-old Jai Lynn Jamaal Arnold, who was accused of being the triggerman, along with 22-year-old Jamarr Harrison-McNeil, 18-year-old Gabrielle Nicole Brightman and a 16-year-old girl whose identity was withheld because of her age.

The search continues for a 22-year-old woman with ties to North Texas who went missing almost a week ago from the West Texas city of Alpine. Zuzu Renee Verk, a student and employee at Sul Ross State University, was last heard from Oct. 12 and may be in danger, Alpine police said. The reward for information on Verk's whereabouts or her safe return was raised from $7,500 to $30,000 Wednesday, police said.

Harnett County, North Carolina, officials arrested a Texas man Friday when more than $4 million worth of liquid methamphetamines was found at a house where he was living. Deputies with the Harnett County Sheriff's Office were responding to a complaint when the drugs were found. Pineda Franky Garcia, 37, of Tyler, was arrested and jailed under a $1 million bond.

Fifty civil rights groups signed a letter asking the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate police use of facial-recognition databases, arguing the technology disproportionately affects minorities and has minimal oversight. The request coincides with the release of a law school's report concluding half of America's adults have their images stored in at least one searchable facial-recognition database used by local, state and federal authorities and amid concern about law enforcement's use of force against black men.

A new piece of technology is soon going to help speed up crash scene investigations on roads patrolled by the Macomb County (Michigan) Sheriff's Office. Approved for purchase during a Justice and Public Safety Committee meeting Oct. 5, a laser scanner from Faro Technologies will replace the current Total station, which has been used since 2002. The scanner has the ability to create 3-D images of crash scenes and crime scenes through the use of lasers.
