Orange County Sheriff's Office searching for church burglary suspect

The Orange County Sheriff's Office needs the public's help in identifying a suspect accused of burglarizing a local church Wednesday afternoon.
It happened at Old First Orange Baptist Church, located at 7925 Interstate 10 in Orange, on Oct. 19 at 1:06 p.m.
Holly Corley with the Orange County Sheriff's Office tells 12News the alleged burglar broke into the church and took a non-specified amount of cash.

Skeletal remains found in Williamson County; sheriff says it's not Rachel Cooke

The Williamson County sheriff’s office is investigating skeletal human remains found in a field off Texas 45 and MoPac Boulevard (Loop 1), according to a news release. It said the cause of death is unclear at this time.
Detectives responded and confirmed the remains are human, the release said. There were no apparent signs of criminal activity, but the remains may have been there for an extended period of time, Cmdr. John Foster said in the release.

According to the sheriff’s office, on Sept. 8, Smith County Investigators received information that a subject(s) was smuggling illegal narcotics into the Smith County Jail.

High-speed Texas police chase ends with crash, drug seizure

Texas police apprehended a driver following a high-speed pursuit that ended with a crash and a brief foot chase.
The incident happened at about 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 6 as a Lufkin police officer tried to pull over a man in a Chevrolet Impala for a traffic violation, the department stated in an online release.

Deputy shot in Milam County during mental health call, suspect killed

A deputy with the Milam County Sheriff’s Office is being treated after he was shot several times Wednesday afternoon while conducting a mental health assessment, according to authorities in the county.
Samuel Ferguson IV, a mental health deputy, was working with the Central Counties Services’ Mobile Crisis Outreach Team (MCOT) to conduct a mental health assessment on a person who was experiencing a mental health crisis, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.
