Friendly and approachable Ed Daniels is probably a deputy you'd ask for directions without hesitation if lost in the Wichita County Courthouse, but during his lengthy law enforcement career, he was once so good at appearing to be an outlaw, that he fooled the experts — actual criminals.
The 74-year-old celebrated 50 years in law enforcement this month. The career field has given him roles from highway patrolman to undercover agent to sheriff.

Harrison County Sheriff's Office deputies seized several hundred pounds of suspected marijuana after a traffic stop.
It happened Tuesday afternoon on U.S Highway 59 near Interstate 20, where the driver, 33-year-old Brandon Ashley Beck, of Chicago, was taken into custody.
The smell of the marijuana was so strong that the K-9 alerted to it almost as soon as he was out of the deputy's vehicle.

The Kleberg County Sheriff's Office says a deputy located a woman's remains Sunday in a shallow grave on Padre Island, near Corpus Christi. Chief Deputy Jaime Garza says a man's body was discovered Monday beneath the first body.
