Thirty-five years after an unknown teen was found dead, nude on the side of Interstate 45, authorities are again putting out the girl's description and a photo, in the hopes of finally identifying her. According to the Walker County Sheriff's Office, on Friday, Oct. 31, 1980, a white female 15-20 years of age arrived in Huntsville alone. She was seen by several citizens who also talked to her at two separate locations in town.

A South Texas sheriff's deputy has survived being shot twice while trying to apprehend a suspect who was later caught. The Bexar County Sheriff's Office says Deputy Joseph Canales was in stable condition Saturday at a San Antonio hospital. Canales was wearing a protective vest Friday night when he was shot in the arm and chest.

In an official opinion, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said law enforcement agencies displaying "In God We Trust" on their patrol cars would likely win any court battles over the issue.
" ... Displaying 'In God We Trust' on police vehicles is a passive use of a motto steeped in our nation's history that does not coerce Citizen approval or participation," Paxton wrote in his opinion. "A law enforcement department's decision to display the national motto on its vehicles is consistent with that history. Thus, a court is likely to conclude that a law enforcement department's display of 'In God We Trust' on its patrol vehicles is permissible under the Establishment Clause of the U.S. Constitution."
