It appears that the Corpus Christi Police Department has a new tool in its fight against criminals in that area.
The department recently released video footage of a drone assisting officers in smoking out a pair of suspects that were reported to be carrying firearms near Sam Houston Elementary in Corpus Christi.

Ellis County officials held a news conference to discuss how they plan to house hundreds of Central American children amid concerns from residents about safety. The nearly 500 children, all undocumented, will be taken to the Lakeview Camp and Retreat Center near Waxahachie over the next few days. The plan right now is to house them at the facility over the next 21 days, while officials figure out where to send them next.

The vehicles recently got the new decals, weeks after an opinion by the Texas attorney general that the phrase is permissible under the establishment clause of the U.S. Constitution. The National Sheriffs' Association and pharmaceutical manufacturer Purdue Pharma L.P. announced the launch of a pilot program to support training of front-line officers on the use of the "rescue drug" naloxone, which can reverse the fatal overdose effects of some opioids, including heroin. Also as part of this initiative, select law enforcement agencies will receive overdose kits to be disseminated in certain jurisdictions.

A Texas police chief who warns President Barack Obama in a social media video that trying to disarm Americans would "cause a revolution in this country" is the latest law enforcement official to urge citizens to arm themselves in the wake of mass shootings. Randy Kennedy, longtime chief in the small East Texas town of Hughes Springs, about 120 miles east of Dallas, says in the video posted this week on his personal Facebook page that the Second Amendment was established to protect people from criminals and "terrorists and radical ideology."
