From May 20: After a report of suspicious activity, the Duval County Sheriff's Office seized a cloned police vehicle on County Road 237. The called had noticed the vehicle in the middle of the road and saw a Hispanic male wearing a police uniform and gun belt run into the brush as if he was attempting to capture suspects. A few hours later the caller noticed the vehicle was still on the roadway, so he decided to contact the the aheriff's office.

From Feb. 26: Fourteen women were charged with prostitution in a raid on 12 massage parlors in north Houston, the Harris County District Attorney's Office announced Wednesday. Each of the parlors is located along the Farm-to-Market 1960 corridor, according to a release by the Harris County Sheriff's Office. Some had been under the HSCO's watch since 2009. The arrests and raids were made in conjunction with the department's Human Trafficking Division.

From June 17: Denton police arrested a man for making a terroristic threat at the Denton County courthouse Wednesday morning. Police said they got a call around 8 a.m. about a suspicious man at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital. But before officers arrived, he left the scene.
The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Peshwas Azad Waise, allegedly drove to the Denton County courthouse next. He made his way through security and asked to speak to the judges, police said. He made enough of a scene to attract the attention of sheriff's deputies, who took him into custody. Waise was eventually arrested for making the terroristic threats at the hospital.

From May 13: Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls warned would-be robbers that if you come into his county waving a gun, you could leave in a bag. The comment came after a homeowner in his county used his gun to defend himself from a man attempting to rob him when he arrived at his home Wednesday evening.
The incident occurred in Fort Bend County located just southeast of Houston near the town of Richmond. The homeowner had just pulled into his driveway when the would-be robber approached him with a gun and demanded money. The homeowner pulled out his own gun and stopped the robbery attempt by shooting the man twice, KTRK-TV reported.

From Jan. 22: A former West Texas sheriff has died in the crash of a small, single-engine airplane. The Midland County Sheriff's Office said former Midland County Sheriff Dallas Smith died in the crash. The Federal Aviation Administration says the Piper PA-22 took off Thursday from Midland Executive Airpark, bound for Big Spring. The aircraft was reported missing Friday.

From Dec. 9: A deadly sinkhole in an industrial part of San Antonio swallowed two cars Sunday evening, killing one person and nearly trapping another who had to be rescued by passersby. The chasm opened just after 7:30 p.m. in an area where the city is engaged in an "aggressive, vigorous, replacement program" for aging sewer pipes, San Antonio Mayor Ivy Taylor said at a news conference Monday.

From Oct. 28: Sheriff's deputies are seeking the public's help locating a man they say is armed, dangerous and wanted in connection with a fatal shooting. Authorities have issued a murder arrest warrant for Tony Vincent Novello, 24, a man described as a felon convicted of multiple crimes, said Terry Grisham, Tarrant County Sheriffs Department spokesman.

From March 18: The FBI has joined the search for a missing 14-year-old Houston-area girl, believed to be in danger after possibly having been with her father when he was killed and his burned body dumped near a ditch in a rural area north of the city. Walker County Sheriff Clint McRae said authorities are afraid for the safety of Adriana Coronado.

From July 22: One East Texas sheriff's office says they had just finished going to the funerals for the five officers killed in Dallas. Now, they say they will have to unfortunately go to several more, after the recent shootings in Baton Rouge. Back in March, the Smith County Sheriff's Office says they were in a situation where shots were fired back at them during a pursuit.
Smith County Sheriff Larry Smith says there are changes they will have to make, as well as some they need the community to do, now more than ever.

From June 3: A federal lawsuit filed by the Freedom From Religion Foundation over crosses on sheriff department vehicles in Brewster County has been settled, according to a FFRF representative and county officials. FFRF Co-President Annie Laurie Gaylor said the lawsuit was brought on by the organization after the Brewster County Sheriff's Department displayed crosses on its vehicles. The measure was on Brewster County Commissioner's Agenda.
