A Texas sheriff's office is mourning the loss of their leader after he died due to complications of COVID-19.Lynn County Sheriff Abraham Vega died on July 11 after battling the virus, the Texas Chief Deputies Association (TCDA) said on Facebook.Lynn County is part of the Lubbock area.

Maverick County recognizes deputies
County Judge David Saucedo and Commissioners Court recognized four Sheriff Deputies for their efforts displayed in the line of duty. On May 13, Sgt. Martinez, Cpl. Perez, and Deputies Camarillo and Campirano responded to a fire call in the Hopedale area and are credited with helping saves the lives of an elderly couple who didn't respond to deputy calls and requests. After the fire ignited the front portion of the home, deputies entered through a rear window and safely removed the couple off the property.

Sheriff Schermber thanks Commissioners Court for their special recognition and once again commends Deputies for their bravery and valiance.

McAllen police chief on ambush killing of 2 officers: 'Our community is hurting'

McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez told "Fox & Friends" on Tuesday that his "community is hurting" following the ambush killing of two police officers over the weekend. The slain McAllen officers were identified as Edelmiro Garza, 45, and Ismael Chavez, 39. The gunman killed himself after engaging in a shootout with other responding officers, <i>The Monitor</i> reported.

Meanwhile, Argiries allegedly sent the $956,250 he received to an account at the cryptocurrency company Coinbase via a series of five wire transfers.On Tuesday, the Department of Justice announced Argiries has been charged with wire fraud, bank fraud and engaging in unlawful monetary transactions.

Constable appointed to fill unexpired term of Marion County sheriff

The Marion County Commissioners Court on Monday appointed David Capps to fill the unexpired term of recently retired sheriff David McKnight.The appointment was made with a unanimous vote, following about a 30-minute executive session. Prior to the appointment, Capps served as the county's constable for Precinct 1 and also as the county's emergency management coordinator.

Funeral services for a Harris County Sheriff's Office cadet who died during a physical training course will be held on Monday in Humble.Sheriff's Cadet Cornelius Anderson, 28, died on Sunday, two days after he suffered a medical emergency during physical training for the Basic Peace Officer's Course at the Harris County Sheriff's Office Academy. He was training to become a deputy, following a year of service as a sheriff's office detention officer.

Marshall man arrested in drug raid

The Harrison County Sheriff's Office arrested a 59-year-old man on drug charges Wednesday afternoon after a raid in Marshall.According to the sheriff's office, deputies executed a search warrant at about 3 p.m. at 3674 Farm-to-Market Road 1997 West after a narcotics investigation by the sheriff's office. Deputies seized about one ounce of methamphetamine along with prescription pills and a rifle.

After failing to prevent the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, the U.S. government realized it had an information sharing problem. Local, state and federal law enforcement agencies had their own separate surveillance databases that possibly could have prevented the attacks, but they didn’t communicate any of this information with each other. So Congress directed the newly formed Department of Homeland Security to form "fusion centers" across the country, collaborations between federal agencies like DHS and the FBI with state and local police departments, to share intelligence and prevent future terrorist attacks.
