President Barack Obama is forging ahead on a wide-ranging plan to overhaul the U.S. immigration system early this year, including a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants already in the country, the New York Times recently reported. The president had made immigration reform a key promise for his second term, and said in November after he won the election that he expected a bill would be introduced in Congress shortly after his January inauguration. Treasury report shows increase in small-business lending in Texas

Texas institutions that receive capital through the Small Business Lending Fund have increased their small business lending by more than $996 million over their baselines, according to a report by the U.S. Department of the Treasury. This is the sixth consecutive quarter in which SBLF participants have increased lending. Across the country, lending is up $7.4 billion overall and $740 million over the prior quarter. Community banks in particular have increased lending by an amount substantially greater than a peer group of similar banks across the spectrum. More
