Toyota recalls 1 million vehicles

Toyota is recalling 752,000 2003-2004 Toyota Corolla and Corolla Matrix vehicles because of a faulty airbag control module and 270,000 2006-2012 Lexus IS vehicles for a windshield wiper problem in two separate recalls recently announced. With the Corolla recall, Toyota said in a statement that there is a possibility that the front airbags and/or seat pre-tensioners could inadvertently deploy. With the Lexus recall, Toyota said a loose nut could cause the windshield wipers to fail. More

President Barack Obama and a bipartisan group of senators recently proposed new laws that would offer hope of citizenship for close to 11 million undocumented immigrants in the United States. The senators' guidelines also propose granting green cards to foreigners at U.S. universities who complete advanced degrees in the highly coveted technical fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Rep. Lamar Smith, R-Texas, for one, predicts that a big, newly legal group of Americans would drive down wages of today's citizens and that the path-to-citizenship plan would make the U.S. even more attractive to millions of new immigrants who steal across our borders in hope of future "amnesty." US small-business borrowing rises in December, but barely

Borrowing by small U.S. businesses rose marginally in December, eking out a tiny gain for the year and suggesting headwinds for economic growth for the first few months of 2013, a recent report showed. The Thomson Reuters/PayNet Small Business Lending Index, which measures the overall volume of financing to small U.S. companies, rose to 112 from an upwardly revised 111.1 in November, PayNet said. Borrowing was up just 1 percent from a year earlier. More
