Professional Carwashing & Detailing
How much thought have you given to replacing your old car wash? As the economy improves, and consumer confidence continues to grow, smart operators will want to get ahead of the crowd in their three- to five-mile local market. Many consumers, we know, are always attracted to the "latest and greatest" in any retail business, and car washes are no different.

List of Texas water projects draws concerns over conservation
Within days of the announcement earlier this year that the state legislature could get serious about funding new water projects in Texas, folks started having questions. Where will that money go? Why not make more of the water we have instead of building more reservoirs? And what's to prevent the proposed $2 billion "water bank" from suffering the same problems and controversies as other state funds have?
Jeeps aren't welcome at car wash
Denver Business Journal
Older model Jeep Grand Cherokees aren't welcome at a chain of car washes, KUSA-TV reports. Waterway Carwash, which has six locations around metro Denver, will no longer wash the cars but only those for model year 2010 or older. The problem, the TV station says, deals with reported incidents of sudden acceleration by Jeeps at car washes.

Senators agree on path to legal status for illegal immigrants
Los Angeles Times
Eight senators who have spent weeks trying to write a bipartisan bill to overhaul immigration laws have privately agreed on the most contentious part of the draft — how to offer legal status to the nation's 11 million illegal immigrants. According to aides familiar with the closed-door negotiations, the bill would require illegal immigrants to register with Homeland Security Department authorities, file federal income taxes for their time in America and pay a still-to-be-determined fine. They also must have a clean law enforcement record.
Texas inspection bill has 5-year exemption
Modern Tire Dealer
Recently, Sen. Carlos Uresti introduced Senate Bill 888 in Texas, legislation making extensive changes to the current state inspection and maintenance program for vehicles. Under the existing state inspection and maintenance program, vehicles are inspected every year. The bill includes provisions requiring that the state inspection and maintenance program must apply to gasoline-powered vehicles between five and 25 years old. This would change the initial inspection from two to five years for passenger cars sold in the state and not previously registered in Texas or another state. If this bill becomes law, it will take effect in September 2013.
Can natural gas replace regular gasoline?
Natural gas is abundant, clean and far cheaper than diesel. That has the U.S. transportation and auto industries looking for ways to kick their dependence on dirtier fossil fuels. After years of debating how to tap domestic energy sources, new innovations in the sector have created a boom in U.S. energy production. And natural gas is now being viewed as something of a panacea for much of what ails the world's largest economy — cheaper energy could make U.S. manufacturing globally competitive again.
