Small businesses are at the core of the Texas economy. Defined as those with 500 or fewer employees, small businesses provided 45 percent of the state's private-sector jobs, with more than 2.3 million small businesses accounting for more than 98 percent of the state’s employers, according to 2010 statistics from the U.S. Small Business Administration. More than 4 million Texans work for small businesses, and the Texas Legislature is focused on trying to help small businesses, with ideas like certifying them as homegrown businesses and making permanent a small business tax exemption set to expire in 2014.

Content marketing
Professional Carwashing & Detailing
Many owners and managers in this business face daily calls and door knocks from people selling advertising and marketing services. Back of grocery store register receipts, direct mail, pay per click, billboards and youth sports just to name a few ― it's enough to drive a wash owner/manager crazy. Many simply say "no" as a way to just get on with their daily operations ― and also get the sales person off the phone or out the door. However, marketing your wash is more important now than ever before. Competition has spiked, but so has demand. People are washing their cars, but are they coming to you? Are you giving them a reason to stop into your facility? What sets you apart from all of the other washes in town? That's where content marketing comes into primary importance. Your business depends on it.

Heritage Foundation: Immigration reform will cost $6.3 trillion
Politico
A new study by the conservative Heritage Foundation warns that the Senate immigration reform bill would cost taxpayers $6.3 trillion in new spending on entitlements and social programs — and it's urging Republicans to use that eye-popping figure to sink the whole effort. The recent study is an update of a 2007 Heritage study that helped derail the last immigration reform bill that year. At the time, the think tank said immigration reform would cost $2.6 trillion as newly legalized immigrants receive more in social benefits than they pay in taxes.
