Spring fever: Why bugs are friends to car washes
Professional Carwashing & Detailing
As many as 1.6 trillion insects are killed each year in the Netherlands alone, according to a 2011 study, meaning there could be upwards of 40 trillion bugs in the U.S. every year just waiting for car washes to clean them off. "The best time of year to offer pollen/bug removal varies by region of the country, but in general the pollen is in the spring and the bugs are between spring and fall," reports Kipp Kofsky, president of Arcadian Services LLC, a 30-plus year manufacturer of industry chemical solutions.

Realizing point-of-sale capabilities
Professional Carwashing & Detailing
Point-of-sale systems are necessities for processing payments for car washes and lube centers. They need to be efficient to get customers through lines quickly and pleasantly. As we know, technology is progressing in nearly every area of the car wash and quick lube industries, and point-of-sale systems have seen their fair share of advancements over the years. While there is technically no wrong or right answer (except for a towel that doesn’t work well), it is good to know all of your options.

McClatchy Washington Bureau
The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced May 14 that it will direct $6.5 million in federal funds to the Great Plains region to help farmers and ranchers conserve water in the Ogallala Aquifer.
