Washes lose energy costs, gain savings with LED lighting
Professional Carwashing & Detailing
Not only is LED lighting a great way to improve the look of your bays, said Jason Baright, president of G&G LED, but the lights can pay for themselves in one to two years, he continued. The savings in energy costs are a great reason to switch to LED, said Glenn Mitchell, director of LSI Hamilton Lighting. "With energy costs rising ... it makes sense to make the change to a low energy, low maintenance cost light source." Energy costs can be reduced by 60-70 percent with LEDs, said Baright.

USA Today
This Memorial Day will see the second highest number of travelers on the roads and in the skies since 2000 and the highest since the recession, according to auto club AAA. The long, unusually rough winter that just ended, coupled with a slow but steady economic recovery and gas prices about the same as last year, will contribute to a 1.5 percent increase over last year in Memorial Day travel. It is expected that 36.1 million people will travel at least 50 miles from home from May 22 through May 26, up from 35.5 million last year.

Wichita Falls' car washes shutdown 2 days
KFDX-TV
VideoBriefStage 5 is now in effect as lakes hit 25 percent this past week. The new restrictions will not affect residents as much as stage 3 and 4 but could have an impact on some businesses as pools cannot be filled with city water and car washes must shut down two days a week. Jim Caddotte with All American Car Wash says although they are not happy about having to cut back hours they understand they need to do their part. Car wash managers are making new employee schedules as they're being forced to close Sundays and Mondays.

Building a loyalty program that works
Business 2 Community
Loyalty programs are hardly a new marketing tactic, but they've survived this long precisely because they're effective. But as consumers, we can all remember some loyalty programs that have just flat out not worked for us, whether they were too complicated to use, too restrictive, or just didn't offer the kinds of perks that made a difference to us. Loyalty programs should, and really must, go beyond a "get the 10th free" punch card or another piece of cheap plastic cluttering up a wallet. Luckily, establishing a loyalty program that's effective for your business and customers both doesn't have to be that complicated if you keep a few things in mind.

Check out the hottest cars you've never seen
USA Today
Before the minivan, there was Scarab, a sleek, silver cocoon of a car created in 1936. And before the Smart Car there was L'Oeuf Electrique (Electric Egg), a super-compact ride, circa 1942. They're two of 17 "concept" cars coming to Atlanta's High Museum of Art that conjure visions of a future world — in some instances, an extraterrestrial one. So-called concept cars "shaped the future of the automotive industry by challenging the notion of what is possible.

Propane battles natural gas for share of US transport market
Fox Business
Traditionally used to heat homes and fire up barbecues, propane used to be viewed as unlikely to contend with CNG for widespread vehicle use due to its relatively higher cost and the difficulties in transporting the fuel across country. That's starting to change as the fracking energy boom spurs a surge in the production of liquid petroleum gas, including propane, and driving down prices.
