Stick to the list: Opening and closing routines
Auto Laundry News
"Goodnight Mama." "Goodnight Ben." "Goodnight Jim Bob." "Goodnight Daddy." "Goodnight children." "Goodnight John Boy." Many of you remember this sequence of goodnight banter from the television show, “The Waltons." It was an important part of their family’s end-of-day routine. Each show ended with a similar routine and the fans expected the sequence each time they tuned in. The show last aired in 1981, yet it is still remembered vividly to this day. Much like the goodnight routine of "The Waltons," your car wash business needs an opening and closing routine to help keep it successful.

Governor: Deadly flooding is worst ever seen in Texas area
Yahoo News
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on May 25 likened the ferocity of flash flooding that killed at least three people to a tsunami, and authorities said a dam had given way in a state park. Abbott declared states of disaster in 24 counties and flew over the area south of Austin to assess the damage caused by tornadoes, heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and flooding that forced evacuations and rooftop rescues and left thousands of residents without electricity. "This is the biggest flood this area of Texas has ever seen," Abbott said.

Do you have the right chemistry?
Professional Carwashing & Detailing
It is no surprise professional detailing requires a keen eye for precision and patience for meticulous detail. Detailers take pride in the work they do, which can be applied to new and classic cars, boats, motorcycles and even airplanes. With the wide variety of jobs detailers are often faced with — and the extensive assortment of messes and stains they see — knowing the correct procedures and chemical processes for each issue is essential. No matter what the label on the chemical’s bottle may imply, it is important to be aware of how these products interact with a vehicle’s surface.

Takata, Toyota, GM: How do companies survive recalls?
Marketplace
Takata’s recall of defective airbags in 34 million vehicles — equivalent to two years of sales in the entire U.S. auto market — is a juggernaut. It isn’t the largest, however. That title belongs to the 2004 recall of 150 million pieces of Chinese-made toy jewelry that had a high risk of containing lead. The fact is, recalls happen all the time. Major recalls can be costly, running into the billions of dollars, especially if lawsuits or fines are involved. And yet, "it’s extremely seldom that a recall leads to the ruin of a company," says Jonathan Bernstein, president of Bernstein Crisis Management.

Investment converges on express exterior
Auto Laundry News
Recently, Eric Wulf, CEO of the International Carwash Association, reported on some car wash industry trends. One trend is a slight increase in the number of cars being washed and the average price per wash for most operators who participate in ICA’s Wash Count program. The construction trend is now based mainly around exterior cleaning, and there are more investors in the business today as opposed to the more traditional owner and operator.
