INDUSTRY NEWS

Borrower beware
Auto Laundry News
Coast Commercial Credit sounds the alarm about a new lending scheme that can negatively impact cash flow and the future ability to operate a business. A number of car wash operators have been receiving calls from telemarketers offering easy working-capital loans in as little as 24 to 72 hours, according to the company. These types of loans come with extremely high interest rates, typically ranging from 70 percent APR to over 100 percent APR. They are called Merchant Cash Advance (MCA) or Business Cash Advance (BCA) loans. These loans are tied to merchant card accounts or bank accounts. MCA/BCA lenders debit the merchant card or checking account on a daily basis and take as much as 50 percent of a business’s daily receipts. These loans are designed for start-ups and borrowers with bad credit. However, these lenders have been heavily soliciting experienced operators with good credit.

US car population surges as sales soar, while scrappage falls
Green Car Reports
As new, more-efficient cars become available, older models must eventually be taken off the road for a genuine reduction in greenhouse-gas emissions to occur. Yet while U.S. consumers are purchasing plenty of those new cars, they're still keeping the old ones around. The number of cars on U.S. roads is now at a record high, according to research firm IHS Automotive. IHS data shows roughly 252,700,000 light-duty cars and trucks in operation in the U.S. — the highest total ever.

Keeping track of inventory
Professional Carwashing & Detailing
It is essential to manage your car wash chemical inventory so that you don't end up ordering too much or having too little. This is very important in order for your business to run cost effectively and smoothly without losing any customers or revenue. It is easy to order too much inventory. The fear of running out of product and not being able to provide the customers the wash they want can cause a manager to order more than is needed. Ordering too little is also a factor. You need to make sure you have an adequate supply without ordering too much. Pay special attention to your premium products. These premium products are important in helping you upsell your car wash packages.
