Facundo Cafe has still got it, and so does the car wash
Houston Press
Kaitlin Steinberg writes, "Even on a rainy day, there's a line for the car wash and oil changes at Dr. Gleem, but it's surprisingly quiet inside. For a while, I'm the only person seated at the granite counter of tiny Facundo Cafe. Every now and then I hear the whirr of a razor from the barber shop that's connected to the cafe, and from behind me comes the gentle hum of the automatic car wash, visible through a panoramic window as it glides vehicles through the swinging, foamy blue mops that hang from the ceiling. Right now, as I wait for my car to be cleaned, I cannot be anywhere but here. The best thing to do is to relax and enjoy a meal."

Study: Yes, there are benefits of offering free WiFi
Small Business Trends
It's gotten much more common today to find businesses that offer complimentary WiFi for their patrons, especially in cities. If you are on the fence about whether to offer free WiFi to your customers, you may be wondering: Is there any real evidence of the benefits of offering free WiFi? One recent study suggests that small retail businesses are indeed seeing a return from offering complimentary WiFi to their customers.

Will your car one day capture all its carbon emissions?
Green Car Reports
Producing carbon dioxide is an unavoidable part of burning fuel in cars. The problem with this of course is that carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas. And the more cars there are on the road, the more sources of this greenhouse gas there are. The concept of carbon dioxide capturing has been theorized for a while now, but researchers at Saudi Aramco and ExxonMobil are starting to take it seriously. Carbon capture would first be applied to large-scale applications, like power stations. Those burn carbon-based fossil fuels too. But a smaller system could be applied to road vehicles, and in theory, fitted to almost anything.

Paint color restoration: Then and now
Professional Carwashing & Detailing
Back in the day you could restore any paint color to the original shade and gloss by simply re-wetting the pigment with anything ... from a second or two with water, to a few days with olive oil or years with a properly formulated clear coating. But, on a vehicle, that coating needed to be applied with a spray gun by an experienced auto sprayer.

Numbers game: Modeling helps it add up
Auto Laundry News
Car washing is a "numbers game." The more cars processed the more money to be made. The greater the production is on best days the healthier the bottom line. Consider a wash facing below zero temperatures. Depending on circumstances, it may not make sense to deal with the multitude of issues involved with operating during extended periods of duress. Unfortunately, there is no way to know this except to try it and measure outcomes. A way to capture behavior of a system is to create a model that explains previous behavior and can give confidence in its outcomes.

Car wash security breach could affect thousands
NBC Connecticut
Splash Car Wash is warning patrons to check their bank accounts after a security breach compromised the credit card information of up to 30,000 customers, according to company executives. The car wash, which operates 13 locations in Connecticut and three in New York, learned of the breach late last month. Splash founder and CEO Mark Curtis said malware was externally implanted in the company's card readers at the end of February. He learned of the breach when American Express alerted the car wash of a problem May 16. According to Curtis, Splash immediately removed the malware and began using bank-issued card readers.
