Car wash fundraiser raises nearly $2,000 for Colorado veterans
On Saturday, June 28 the Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing (PHWFF)-Denver Group was able to raise nearly $2,000 at their car wash fundraiser hosted by Kwik Car Wash.
Fifty percent of car wash sales from both Parker and Littleton Kwik Car Wash locations were donated to the group. Volunteers were on-site serving lunch and offering fly-casting demonstrations for additional donations.
Project Healing Waters is an organization dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and disabled veterans through fly-fishing and associated activities, including education and outings.
"Kwik Car Wash has gone out of their way to make our time here most enjoyable and profitable for Veterans here in the community," said PHWFF Program Lead Larry Firecoats. "Thank you BIG TIME and Peace on the Water!"

Loyalty without points
For every brand a consumer is truly passionate about, that same person is probably equally dispassionate about 20, 30 or more brands that have fleeting, transactional, impersonal roles in that consumer's life. A brand's perception of loyalty must take into account both ends of that spectrum, both the passionate fans and the transactional consumers. Too often, branded loyalty programs focus on incentives like points, membership tiers and discounts that might motivate transactional consumers but are likely wasted on passionate fans.
Dropping lake levels to soon ban car washes from using city water
Some of the recent prayers for rain were answered, but not much of it fell in the watershed. And Wichita Falls car wash businesses are keeping a close eye on the lake levels because when they fall 20 percent, they will be cut off from the city water. When Stage 5 water restriction started in Wichita Falls on May 17 car washes were hit with a major restriction. They had to close down two days each week instead of one. But they may soon be hit with a more devastating mandate when the combined levels of Lakes Arrowhead and Kickapoo reach 20-percent.

US small business borrowing jumps in May
U.S. small businesses boosted borrowing for a third straight month in May, driving the Thomson Reuters/PayNet Small Business Lending Index to its highest in more than seven years, according to recent data released. The increase suggests small business owners continue to see demand rising and are investing in their firms. It was the highest level since March 2007, and the third highest level on record.
The hidden benefits of high volume
Professional Carwashing & Detailing
While the increased traffic generated by monthly pass customers is valuable in and of itself for the revenue it generates, we believe that it also offers high volume operators two "hidden benefits."
Study: Yes, there are benefits of offering free WiFi
Small Business Trends

Employee turnover: The 5 Cs to recruit, engage, and retain staff in the social age
Auto Laundry News
The war for talent is over and talent has won. Technology and globalization have dramatically changed the way we work over the last 20 to 30 years. However, very little has changed in how we hire and manage staff, which has led to low employee engagement and productivity and high employee turnover. Instead of doing the routine, tactical, and predicable work of yesteryear, the social age requires us to be more strategic, creative, and innovative — more solutions oriented.
Texas Water Development Board releases proposed rule making
The recent rains in the Permian Basin may have many thinking the water resources are fine, but the details of water conservation efforts approved by voters last November have started to trickle out. The Texas Water Development Board has released proposed rulemaking for the State Water Implementation Fund for Texas (SWIFT) and the State Water Implementation Revenue Fund for Texas (SWIRFT); which will both be used for future water projects in the state. Of the proposed rules that were released for the use of funds in the SWIFT; the TWDB establishes answers for some questions about what projects meet the criteria for rural political subdivisions, agricultural water conservation, water reuse, and the Board's criteria for prioritizing of projects.
iShine car wash adds a pick-up service
Boca Raton businessman David Risley sat outside iShine Car Wash and Detail, waiting for his SUV to come out. He didn't expect to wait long. "I've been a customer since they originally opened and I belong to the club," said Risley, of Delray Beach. "It's convenient and what's nice is you can zip through in 8 or 9 minutes." Now, if he needs a longer service, they'll even drop him off and pick him up within 5 miles of the car wash at no extra charge.
The year is half over and auto recalls have broken record
With six months left in 2014, automakers have already recalled more vehicles in the U.S. than in any other year on record. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration lists U.S. recalls for 37.5 million cars this year, topping the 30.8 million record set in 2004, according to the most recent preliminary data today on the agency's website. General Motors Co. accounts for about two-thirds of the total.
