Environmentally-friendly car washes can save money
Whether it's that summer road trip or just a drive around town, the warmer weather months encourage many to spiff up their cars at a neighborhood car wash. Experts say professional car washes are more environmentally friendly than washing at home, and it may end up saving you money in the long run. "Professional car washes all conserve water," Eco Express Wash owner Shane Wells explained. "We recycle about 70 percent of our water here."

Increased winter precipitation — including snow, ice, and sleet — creates more dirty cars which means more business for local car washes, but it also introduces challenges to those washes, where equipment is regularly exposed to extreme conditions. In addition, preventative measures taken by local transportation departments to make driving conditions better through application of sodium chloride, sand, and various deicing chemicals adds more contaminates for car washes to contend with.
