Car wash polishes off 2nd location
It's been three years since Brad Mann introduced The Wash Factory, his eco-friendly and standalone automated, ride-through car wash, to Denton. Recently, Mann opened his second location at 1900 W. University Drive, next to Rocky's Sports Bar. The new 5,000-square-foot car wash sits on land that was previously undeveloped. "This is a really underserved market in Denton. I believe this is where the growth in Denton is really going to be," said Mann.

The national average price for regular unleaded gasoline fell again this week, dropping 7 cents to $3.55 per gallon, which still stands as the fourth-highest price on record for the calendar date of Aug. 12. The national average has now declined for 22 of the past 24 days, including an 11-day streak. During those 24 days, the national average fell 12 cents, somewhat offsetting the 20-cent increase that took place July 7-19, according to the latest AAA Fuel Gauge Report.
Rising Tide Car Wash in Florida hires mostly adults with autism
At Rising Tide, 37 of the 45 workers are adults with mostly high-functioning autism. "We as a society look at autism as a disability that requires sympathy, instead of a diversity that can be valuable in the workplace," said Tom D'Eri, the co-founder of Rising Tide. D'Eri started Rising Tide after he saw his brother, who has autism, struggle to enter the mainstream. "There have been some great businesses out there that do employ people with autism. But there has yet to be a brand that consumers can recognize that is about autism empowerment. That's what we want to be," said D'Eri.

Texas faces water shortage without water plan
Southwest Farm Press
If Texas maintains its current rate of water use into 2060 without finding a way either to conserve significant amounts of water or to develop new sources, the state will experience a gap between demand and availability. It will need another 9 million acre-feet to supply a population expected to be nearly double today's, says Comer Tuck, who works with water conservation efforts for the Texas Water Development Board.
Damage claims: Documentation and an established procedure are key
Auto Laundry News
Two things are certain in the car wash business, especially concerning in-bay automatics and tunnels: Wash-quality complaints and damage claims. Re-washes and refunds usually take care of the first category, but when it comes to damage claims, a more professional and comprehensive way of handling the situation is necessary. In a perfect world ...
Professional Carwashing & Detailing
Every car leaving a bay or a tunnel would be perfectly clean, dry and shiny. In a perfect world, every wash would enjoy and benefit from 100 percent uptime. Finally, in this perfect world, every wash would be operating every day at 90 percent capacity or higher. Alas, we live and work in a flawed and imperfect world. The good news, and wonderfully so, is that each of these shortcomings is correctable.
As auto recalls rise, government cracks down
Recalls have long been a way of life for automakers and buyers alike. But federal regulators have announced a critical new step to ensure that when a vehicle is subject to a safety order the necessary repairs actually get made. Recently issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the new rules should prove a boon to owners and car shoppers alike as they make it easier to see if a vehicle has been subject to a recall and whether the problem was fixed. The government also will provide a searchable database.
