Cancer Support Community of Greater St. Louis offers free support programs and services to cancer patients and their families. They are dedicated to empowering and educating all those impacted by cancer.

Vending machine bandit helped by bolt cutters

Police are on the look out for a man who stole from several vending machines at the 25 Cent Car Wash in Augusta, Ga. The Oct. 8 story said the man stole using bolt cutters. The thief was caught on surveillance cameras at the car wash. Police said the man appeared on camera for more than 20 minutes.

Small businesses in Texas added jobs in September — the largest gain since May and much higher than the national average, according to estimates released today by Intuit Inc. Employment at Texas small businesses — those with fewer than 20 employees — grew by 0.08 percent last month, up from a gain of 0.05 percent in August. Nationally, jobs were flat and hourly compensation, hours worked and average revenue all declined.

Couple accused of stealing car wash drain grates
A Sumner County couple has been arrested and charged with stealing drain grates from a Hendersonville car wash. The theft occurred Tuesday at the Rain Forrest Car Wash located at 307 New Shackle Road in Hendersonville. Mark Swanner had only owned the car wash for a few months, and he said he never would have imagined have his drains stolen.

Former US treasurer pushes immigration reform

Rosario Marin, who served as U.S. treasurer under President George W. Bush, recently told the Texas Business Leadership Council that 27 years of failed attempts at immigration reform point to only one way out of Washington's quagmire — break the comprehensive bill into smaller pieces of legislation. Marin, the nation's 41st treasurer and the first immigrant to serve in that capacity, now heads the American Competitiveness Alliance, which she said has been at the forefront of educating Congress about the nation's immigration needs in the 21st century.
