Arlington council delays vote on proposed zoning changes for auto-related businesses

The City Council recently put the brakes on a proposal for tougher regulations for automobile-related land uses. The council was scheduled to hold a public hearing and to vote on zoning changes that would affect where future auto-service businesses — such as tire and oil change shops, repair garages, car washes and used car lots — can open. But the council postponed the vote for the third time.

ObamaCare enrollment date delayed until next November

The Obama administration is delaying the start of next year's Affordable Care Act enrollment period to Nov. 15, 2014, to give people more time to study their options, CNN reported. "The Department of Health and Human Services wants to give insurers, consumers and engineers more time to avoid the first go-round's site crashes, coverage train wrecks and cost surprises," the story said.

Update: 2 men arrested for carwash murder

Houston Police have arrested and filed murder charges against the two men accused of beating and killing a man at a car wash in the Greenspoint, Texas, area. As PC&D reported this past week, surveillance video footage and photos supplied by the car wash gave police a clear view of two men murdering 46-year-old Pablo Hernandez. Cameras also caught a good glimpse of the car driven by the suspects.
