Texas mayor says eminent domain letter was a mistake

The mayor has now commented on the story involving Freddy and Dale Davenport, who own a car wash here. As previously reported, the owners said they received an eminent domain letter from the city, stating that their wash was in the way of a city project and they would have to sell the business.

CEO Forum
The 2014 SCWA Convention & EXPO will kick off with a CEO Forum on Sunday, Feb. 23, which includes a fun and informative presentation from car wash operators sharing stories from the past, plus a look at the future of the car wash, detail and lube industry.

Car Wash EXPO
Visit over 230 booths with the latest in car wash, detail and lube equipment, supplies and services. The EXPO is open Sunday, Feb. 23 from 2 to 6:30 p.m., and Monday, Feb. 24 from 1 to 5 p.m.

Mister Car Wash acquires Bubbles Car Wash chain

From July 3: Mister Car Wash has acquired the Bubbles Car Wash chain which operated 13 locations in Houston, Texas. According to the press release, Mister Car Wash now operates 122 car washes in the United States. Earlier this year Mister Car Wash acquired two Cactus car washes, two Soaks car washes and three Metro car washes.

Over the 'Fiscal Cliff' for tax savings

From June 19: For the owners and operators of small- and medium-sized car wash operations and businesses there is good news and bad news contained in the fiscal cliff tax laws. First, the good news: greater certainty in taxes. The owners of many car wash businesses have grown used to a number of long-standing tax breaks but they have also had to get used to the uncertainty of whether they will be renewed each year. While many tax breaks were allowed to expire at the end of 2011, the new tax law renews a large number of them retroactively allowing car wash operators to claim them on both their 2012 and 2013 tax returns.
