    Doctors, patients benefit from medical liability caps, practitioners say

    Medical liability reforms have decreased dermatologists' malpractice premiums and boosted physician numbers in states where such measures have passed, sources say. As of January, about 25 states had enacted some form of caps on noneconomic (pain and suffering) damages, while six had capped total damages, according to an American Medical Association (AMA) report. However, the report adds, the specifics and impact of these caps vary widely, with California and Texas setting the strictest limits. More
