Optimism persists for budget deal — Is it real?

Signs of movement in the ongoing negotiations are appearing in the halls of the Capitol. Senate Budget Committee Chairwoman Patty Murray, D-Wash., the co-chair of the conference committee, returned to Washington even with the Senate still in recess, an indication that the talks are ramping up ahead of the committee's Dec. 13 deadline.

TSA introduces direct enrollment for trusted traveler program
Successful Meetings
A new enrollment site and Web portal means the Transportation Security Administration is officially moving forward with its planned application program for TSA PreCheck, its express security checkpoint program, it announced. TSA PreCheck is a voluntary "trusted traveler" program that allows eligible fliers who pass a background check in advance of flying to pass more quickly through security checkpoints by utilizing an expedited screening lane that does not require passengers to remove their shoes, belts, coats, laptops or carry-on toiletries.

Survey shows what hotel amenities planners and attendees want

The amenity that most influences planners' booking decisions is discounted sleeping rooms, according to a Cvent survey of 800 U.S.-based meeting planners. Meanwhile, the most attractive amenity to their attendees is free Wi-Fi/Internet. The survey was conducted in conjunction with the launch of the Cvent Promotions Hub, which lists thousands of hotel and venue discounts for meeting planners.
