"It's been a five-year bureaucratic battle, but we won. That's a victory for our buyers as well," said Kevin Kelly, NAHB chairman and a home builder and developer from Wilmington, Del. More

GHBA Remodelers Council: Economic optimism may lead to home renovation
Houston Chronicle    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Fortunately for everyone in the Houston area, the economy is doing better than it has in years. Latest economic news reports that unemployment is down to the lowest point it has been in the last five years. This is partly the result of more jobs being created, not people simply giving up and dropping out of the workforce. Economists have tied the economic recovery to the sustained growth in the housing market, citing the housing market as one of the main drivers of the economic recovery. More

The Mortgage Reports    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
The U.S. housing market softened in February. More homes went listed for sale, and fewer sales completed. It's good news for the spring season's early home buyers who may find the year's best deals in housing. Home prices often drop when sellers list homes faster than buyers can buy them. More

For months and months now we've been pointing to seemingly obvious economic data to prove that the U.S. housing market is in trouble because of the weak U.S. economy. Those in the "know" — economists and the real estate board — have been waxing eloquence on how the weather is the main culprit behind the disappointing U.S. housing market numbers. More
