Sales of newly built, single-family homes rose for a third consecutive month in May, posting a 2.1 percent gain to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 476,000 units, according to data released by HUD and the U.S. Census Bureau. This is the fastest sales pace recorded since July of 2008. More

DPS to offer free voter ID cards

Following the U.S. Supreme Court's decision that paves the way for implementation of Texas' voter ID law, the Texas Department of Public Safety announced it will begin processing applications for free voter ID cards. The department will begin issuing so-called election identification certificates for qualified voters. Offering the certificates is required by Senate Bill 14, a measure that passed in 2011 but was on hold until the decision. More
