The Blanco County News    Share   Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
According to the latest Texas Quarterly Housing Report, released today, the volume of real estate sales in Texas increased for the third quarter in a row, possibly spurred by renewed job growth in the state and the expiration of federal homebuyer tax credits. The Texas Quarterly Housing Report is issued four times a year by the Texas Association of Realtors with multiple listing service (MLS) data compiled and analyzed by the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University. Cornyn faces dueling roles in senate
The Abilene Reporter-News    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Texas Sen. John Cornyn wears two hats, but it remains to be seen if there's room for both to fit comfortably atop the silvery hair framing his youthful face. He must balance his role as a conservative Republican in the Lone Star State with his job as chief fundraiser and campaign strategist for all Senate Republicans. A successful balancing act could lead to a much larger role for the 58-year-old junior senator someday. More

Austin to consider limiting historic designations
The Austin American-Statesman    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
The Austin City Council today will consider placing limits on a program that is designed to preserve historic buildings but has been criticized for its generous tax breaks. The changes would — at least temporarily — limit to three a month the number of owner-initiated historic landmark applications the Historic Landmark Commission can consider. That city board reviews historic landmark cases before they go to the council for a vote. More

The Dallas Morning News    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Wholesale power prices in Texas dropped 56 percent last year. That's good news for customers now, but it could be ominous.
