Kimberley-Clark's fourth quarter 2012 results capped off an impressive annual performance driven by strong expansion in emerging markets. Net sales for the quarter were $5.3 billion, 3 percent higher than the same quarter the previous year. Underlying organic sales grew by an impressive 5 percent, with the company's robust performance in emerging markets underlined by 10 percent growth in international sales.

'Smart' disposable diapers could hit market this year

"Smart" disposable diapers being developed by the state-funded Industrial Technology Research Institute are likely to hit the market this year, the institute said recently. The electronic diapers should be ready for sale by the end of this year once nonwoven fabrics manufacturer KNH Enterprise Co. makes final adjustments to its sensor computing system, said Chiou Yii-tay, a special assistant at the institute's Cloud Service Application Center.
