Technical textiles, including nonwovens, comprise about 25 percent of total global fiber consumption. In the United States and other developed nations, the consumption is up to 75 percent. Research into new products and new applications is ongoing. The needs and potential are enormous in areas such as water purification, medical devices and responsive fibrous systems. A number of universities in the U.S. are actively working with industry in the development of these products. However, North Carolina State University has emerged as the leading educational institution in the exploration of nonwovens and technical textiles.

Speaking at the June ITMA ASIA + CITME exhibition in Shanghai, Stoll's technical textiles commercial specialist Martin Legner discussed the company's approach to technical textiles and showed a wide range of knitted fabrics and objects. Columbia Sportswear sales grow 16 percent in Q2

Columbia Sportswear Company, a leading innovator in the active outdoor apparel and footwear industries, announced net sales grew $43.7 million, or 16 percent, to a second-quarter record $324.2 million for the quarter ended June 30, compared with net sales of $280.5 million for the same period in 2013, including a less than 1 percentage point benefit from changes in currency exchange rates.

Yantai Tayho’s brand Tametar aramid has been used in all the newly designed public security police and armed police Special Forces Service uniforms.
