Tire Business
The U.S. Department of Transportation issued 44 new tire plant identity codes — necessary for selling road-going tires in the U.S. — during 2014, double the number issued in 2013. Thirty-two of the new codes are for plants in China — including 18 in Shandong Province alone — along with four for factories in Russia. The latest additions bring to 362 the number of tire plant DOT codes issued to tire factories in China, according to the DOT's database.

6 tips to stay compliant as Form I-9 audits increase
Tire Review
The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 states that employers may only hire employees that are legally authorized to work in the United States, and with that, employers must verify the identity and work authorization of anyone hired by completing the Employment Eligibility and Verification Form, known as the I-9. Even though this law has been around for almost 30 years, it is still something that employers struggle in complying with, and noncompliance can create a huge liability that carries pretty hefty fines and penalties.
