Dysfunctional legislators
Tire Business
It's quite the tarnished scorecard, if you can believe the statistics. Thirty-six have been accused of spousal abuse. Nineteen have been accused of writing bad checks. Three have been imprisoned for assault, seven arrested for fraud, 14 for drugs, eight for shoplifting and 84 for drunk driving. And that's not even counting 21 who are defendants in lawsuits, or 117 who either directly or indirectly bankrupted at least two businesses each. Professional basketball players? National Football League players? Neither. Roy Littlefield, executive vice president of the Tire Industry Association, decried this dubious record supposedly of the 535 members of the U.S. Congress.

Should Texas dealerships get to pay less taxes?
Modern Tire Dealer
The Texas Franchise Tax legislation was included in Substitute House Bill 500, which recently passed the Texas State House. Currently, automotive service and collision repair shops owned and operated by new or used car dealerships are taxed at half the rate used to tax independent automotive repair facilities doing identical work. The Texas state tax code classifies dealership sales as "retail" and allows their service and repair business to be included under that banner.

Test shows Bridgestone OE RFT level with conventional tires
Tire Review
Run-flat tires have often been blasted for the inferior comfort they deliver, however a recent European test gives hope that puncture avoidance may no longer equal a harsh ride. German motoring organization ADAC and Austria's OAMTC put four Bridgestone run-flats to the test, and found one to offer comparable ride comfort and fuel consumption to an equivalent standard tire.
