Pro techs make more online parts buys than DIYers
Tire Business
A new study by the Auto Care Association has found that, contrary to conventional wisdom, the largest portion of the online purchasing, or e-tailing, market for replacement parts is the professional technician segment. Tire Review
Serpentine belts, V-belts and timing belts are all automotive components that have a limited service life. New belts should always be recommended when a customer is buying a water pump, alternator, A/C compressor or power steering pump. It's never just about price
Modern Tire Dealer
ExSell Marketing President Wayne Williams writes for Modern Tire Dealer, "The biggest thing about price is that price is not the biggest thing. Oh, don’t get me wrong, price is important, but it’s not the most important factor when customers are making their final decisions. Study after study shows that value is number one on the customer’s mind. Every customer has a wide variety of concerns at the point of decision. It’s always price plus something; it’s never just price."

Toyota Motor Corp.’s $1.2 billion settlement this year of a U.S. investigation into its handling of problems with unintended acceleration demonstrated that the financial cost of not recalling cars can be much higher than the bill associated with a recall. And that’s not counting injuries or deaths related to defects.
