Take action on the Telephone Consumer Protection Act

As a follow-up to our TCPA position paper at Legislative Day, please send the attached letters to your legislators to encourage them to co-sponsor the critical legislation to modernize the TCPA. AAHAM continues to make advancements in our efforts and we need your assistance. We are pushing for a companion bill to H.R. 3035, which would amend the TCPA to provide parity in the protections and options accorded to landlines and wireless numbers and to allow healthcare providers and their agents to contact consumers at any number provided to them. The TCPA needs to keep pace with the rate at which technology is changing and how it is being used by businesses and consumers.

Although information technology certainly has the ability to change patient behaviors, a lot of untapped potential remains, according to research recently published in the Journal of Medical Internet Research. In combing through 41 studies, the researchers found the effect of technology on actual behavior to be mostly positive but said that more work should explicitly focus on the functions of active technologies, such as interactive education and self-monitoring. Survey results suggest strong CPOE showing

According to survey results of 34 community hospitals, each with over five years of experience with computerized physician order entry, the national policies to promote clinical decision support use may be successful. Dozens of private and public insurers have joined a Medicare-led initiative to offer primary care practices monthly care management fees and the opportunity to share savings for keeping patient costs low in seven markets. Primary care physicians in eight states have until next month to apply for the four-year program known as the comprehensive primary care initiative, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services recently announced. Each organization stated its case with heated language in letters to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
