Kids are going without dental care during the pandemic
CNN
Children are missing out on preventative dental care including teeth cleaning and checkups during the pandemic, according to a new survey.
Covid-19 is a barrier to getting kids the dental care they need, said a third of parents responding to the survey released by C.S. Mott Children's Hospital National Poll on Children's Health.
Since the pandemic began, 40% of parents have avoided seeking care at all, citing concerns about infection, office closures and cost.

Less drilling, less germ spray: Dentistry adapts to the COVID era
The New York Times
Without a doubt, dentistry is among the more intimate health professions. Patients must keep their mouths wide open as dentists and hygienists poke around inside with mirrors, scalers, probes and, until recently, drills.
But drills and other power equipment, including ultrasonic scalers and air polishers, can produce suspended droplets or aerosol spray that may hang in the air, potentially carrying the coronavirus, which could endanger patients and staff members.

Pandemic-related stress causing teeth problems, dentists say
FOX 8 News
For Khristian Burgwald of Elyria, a walk along Lake Erie helps him
cope during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“When I hear that white noise and get that smell, it’s just instant calming to me. It’s been my place of peace,” said Burgwald. But Burgwald also deals with the pandemic in a different way.
“It was probably back in June that I had severe jaw pain,” said Burgwald.

How data breaches impact dental practices during a pandemic
Dentistry Today
Data breaches have emerged as a more significant threat and also a more likely threat than on-site break-ins. They are especially troublesome for dental and medical practices, as the theft of patient information has the potential to ruin a practice.
Making matters worse is the fact that the COVID-19 pandemic and the contracting economy are ramping up the frequency of digital attacks. It is awfully concerning to learn that nearly 3,000 data breaches occurred in the first three financial quarters of 2020.
