SFO Airport Director John L. Martin named 2015 ACC Aviation Award of Excellence recipient
ACC is pleased to announce the selection of SFO Director John L. Martin as the recipient of the 2015 ACC Aviation Award of Excellence. The award will be presented on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 during the ACC 37th Annual Conference & Exposition awards luncheon in Newport Beach, California.
John Martin was specifically selected in recognition of his passionate leadership and advocacy for airports and the aviation industry. Over 30 years, Martin has led the development of SFO into a world class gateway that is focused on providing an exceptional passenger experience. He is a founding member of the International Partnering Institute and championed an innovative partnering strategy that has elevated SFO as an "agency of choice" for airport development companies. He has also driven airport sustainability efforts in the U.S. and internationally through a number of industry-leading programs, including the development of the SFO Sustainable Planning, Design and Construction Guidelines.
"ACC is honored to present the 2015 ACC Aviation Award of Excellence to John Martin," said ACC President T.J. Schulz. "Under John's watch, SFO has become a global leader in innovation and customer service. Airports and airport development experts across the world have been inspired by his unique approach to solving problems and fostering partnerships amongst all stakeholders. Our congratulations to John for his leadership and his contributions to the industry.”

ACC has a successful trip to 87th Annual AAAE Conference
ACC was well represented at last week’s 87th Annual AAAE Conference in Philadelphia. Many ACC members and non-members alike stopped by the ACC booth to discuss industry trends and pick-up a copy of the recently released 2015 membership directory. Additionally, ACC staff had the opportunity to visit members on the exhibit floor to hear about new products and projects.
The annual ACC/AAAE Leadership breakfast was a resounding success with nearly 100 participants. AAAE Chair Randy Berg, Salt Lake City International Airport, and ACC Chair Carol Lurie, VHB, lead discussions on the future of the industry that resulted in numerous Twitter posts.
ACC members and staff also participated in a number of the concurrent sessions. Matt Griffin, ACC’s Director of Regulatory Affairs and Education, participated on a panel of trade association representatives discussing the regulatory challenges at General Aviation airports.
Thanks to everyone who dropped by the ACC booth!

The event has been reformatted so that attendees receive briefings by key representatives from the TSA's Office of Security Capabilities and other DHS agencies, followed by roundtable, interactive technical discussions among stakeholders. It will also provide participants a unique opportunity to learn about the latest programs and collectively address challenges.
