College Faculty Feel Students Lack Professionalism
U.S. News University Connection
When hiring new college graduates, most employers are searching for applicants who have certain hard and soft skills. According to a 2012 survey by Millennial Branding, 98 percent of employers want new bachelor's degree holders to have solid communication skills, 97 percent value a positive attitude and 88 percent want candidates to be goal oriented. In short, they want job applicants to be professional. While professionalism is an important trait for students to possess if they want to land a job, a new survey shows that many college faculty members feel graduates are lacking in this area.

Are College Students Being Overly Optimistic?
The Huffington Post

At the turn of the century, when things seemed much rosier, enrollment between 1990 and 2000 in institutions that granted degrees increased by 11 percent, according to the National Center for Education Statistics. A more surprising fact is that right in the middle of our economic turmoil enrollment increased another 37 percent between 2000 and 2010, with much of this growth coming from full-time students.

Job Advertising On ACPA Listservs
ACPA
All ACPA members are encouraged to subscribe to listservs facilitated by ACPA entities such as commissions, standing committees, and task forces. ACPA listservs allow members to electronically participate in discussions on a wide range of topics related to student development, student affairs and higher education. As a reminder, the ACPA listserv policy states, “Job advertising is not permitted on ACPA listservs. ACPA offers Career Central (C2) and the New Career Central at Convention (C3) for this purpose.” C2, our year-round online job search portal, is an ideal database to post vacancies throughout the year. All positions posted to C2 are shared with our network via e-mail, Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. With this vast exposure, it ensures an ideal candidate for a prospective employer.
