ACPA Innovation Grant Applications Are Available
ACPA
ACPA Innovation Grant applications are available online! Visit the grant's website for information about grant guidelines, the application and award process, ranking criteria and the application form. The ACPA Innovation Grants Team may allocate no more than $10,000 annually (fiscal year) for Innovation Grants submitted by ACPA members and entity groups. Two types of grants will be established: A pool of $5,000 is available for grants for entity groups and a pool of $5,000 is available for individual innovation grants. Grants amounts can vary, but the maximum grant that will be awarded per request is $1,000.

In Sub-Saharan Africa, for example, only 6 percent of college-age students are enrolled in higher education.

As universities recruit more international students, they need to work out their media messaging about the benefits for local and national communities, as well as their campuses, the "Worldviews 2013" conference in Toronto heard. Views differed as to whether universities should sell the economic benefits, or use the media to promote wider cultural and social advantages. Both could help or hinder the integration of international students.

Past ACPA Member Appointed President Of Springfield College
ACPA
ACPA — College Student Educators International congratulates Dr. Mary-Beth Cooper on her appointment as the 13th President of Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts. The announcement was made by Douglass Coupe, chair of the Springfield College Board of Trustees, who also noted her visionary style, strong background in higher education and rich experience in overseeing all aspects of student life. Dr. Cooper will assume her duties at Springfield College on or before September 1, 2013.

College In Canada More Appealing Than Ever For Americans?

As Canadian colleges cater to international students — for a variety of reasons — Americans are heading north for higher education. When Alexie Rudman graduates from college in May 2015, the Rhode Island native is poised to find herself with a lot less debt than her friends back home. That's because Rudman, 19, decided to study at McGill University in Montreal, which costs $17,000 for international students, all fees included — roughly half or even a third of what most American private colleges and some public charge for tuition, according to statistics from the College Board.

For most of its history, America has been a nation of opportunity where even those born into the least well-off families can improve their circumstances. As income inequality continues to grow in the United States, however, many are concerned that widening differences in economic opportunities across households are creating barriers to upward social mobility. Education has often served as a path to better economic outcomes and new evidence identifies promising ways to help lower-income students improve their educational opportunities.
