Why Determination Matters More Than Smarts In Getting Ahead
Fast Company
If you are constantly told you're a genius, how would it affect your work ethic? Would it make you work harder because you know your ability, or make you lazier because you know you're already ahead? Carol S. Dweck, a leading expert in motivation and professor at Stanford University, studies the effects that praise has over mindset. What she's found is simple alterations in wording greatly shape attitude toward work, and whether one will strive hard enough to reach their full potential.

Read Member Of The Week Raechel Hester's Story
ACPA
ACPA has been a great investment in my future and an outlet to stay connected to my colleagues. As a graduate assistant, I had an opportunity to attend an innovative session presented by the person who would become my supervisor. As a young professional, I had an opportunity to volunteer with the Commission for Career Services as way to meet other young professionals in my functional area, and I currently serve as a Directorate member for the Commission for Career Services, which allows me to help other young professionals connect with ACPA in the same way I did. Survey: Reveals Conflicted Mindset Of College Students About ADHD Prescription Stimulant Misuse, Abuse And Diversion
Medical News Today
A recent survey conducted by Harris Poll on behalf of the newly-formed Coalition to Prevent Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder Medication Misuse finds that college students' perceptions and attitudes towards the misuse, abuse and diversion of ADHD prescription stimulants are complex. The findings paint a portrait of students who recognize the risks of misuse, but understand why some students may choose to misuse, given the academic pressures in today's college environment.

Recruiting International Students In A Virtual World
University World News
Traditionally, universities deliver an open day with faculty heads and staff attending to deliver a wide range of content over the course of a day. However, in an increasingly competitive market, many British universities are facing a growing challenge to attract prospective students while minimizing costs. Increasingly, institutions are choosing to embrace the virtual open day as a cost-effective way to effectively track and maintain interest during and after the event to facilitate new student recruitment.

4 Ways Studying In The U.S. Challenges Students
U.S. News & World Report
The study abroad wave has brought a lot of international students to America, especially from Asian countries. One reason for this, especially for students from my home country of China, is that many parents think America has a better education system and that if their children study in the U.S., they will have a better future. But people who just follow the wave and come to the U.S. are missing something. International students' lives can be very different from the lives of students who attend college in their home country. The following challenges show the benefits of studying abroad as well as the disadvantages, which prospective international students should know about before making the decision to study abroad.

Students Predict College Life In 100 Years
USA Today
Sorting hats to pick your major. Admissions decisions based solely on social media profiles. Nap pods. Cafeteria food crafted via 3D printers. And dorm-to-classroom teleportation. These are a few of the many ideas my students recently brainstormed in response to a single question: What will college life be like in 100 years? In his well-reviewed documentary "Ivory Tower," filmmaker Andrew Rossi addressed a range of issues and innovations impacting contemporary higher education — from skyrocketing tuition and massive student debt to MOOCs (massive open online courses) and work-study hybrids.
