These will be one-hour, monthly discussions facilitated by the AIPG leadership on topics ranging from our vision for 2022, new (and old) initiatives, activities scheduled for the annual meeting, the health of the organization, and planning for the 60th anniversary of AIPG in 2023 and for the future.
The meeting will be held virtually, and there will be an opportunity for questions and answers.

AIPG believes mentoring is integral to encouraging geoscientists throughout their careers. This can include discussions on many different topics, including but not limited to:
- specific geoscience topics or questions
- education and experience required for specific career tracks
- any geoscience topic of interest
- geoscience employment search
- selecting the best-suited geoscience career track
- work abroad experiences in geosciences
AIPG is setting up this mentor site to encourage one-on-one AIPG-member discussions. We encourage the mentor and mentee to include others in their discussions and research as needed. A mentor may or may not have applicable experience or knowledge related to a mentee's area of interest, but the mentor will help find information and/or an alternate mentor.
AIPG Members interested in becoming a Mentor can submit the online Mentor form.

Earth Science Week 2022 Contests Target Sustainability

For this year's Earth Science Week (October 9-15, 2022), the American Geosciences Institute (AGI) is sponsoring four contests focusing on the theme of this year's celebration, "Earth Science for a Sustainable World." The 2022 competitions will feature video, photography, visual arts, and essay contests.

April 27th — 2022 Western SD Hydrology Conference — Stop by the AIPG Booth

This is a reminder to register for the 2022 Western SD Hydrology Conference on April 27 at the Monument in Rapid City.
If you would like to submit an abstract for the poster session, the deadline is April 8. Prizes are awarded for students participating in the poster contest ($300-1st place, $200-2nd place, $100- 3rd place). There is also a student scholarship opportunity from RESPEC that has a deadline of April 4 (see attached file).
We now have two optional field trips available on April 28, described below. Space is limited, so please reserve a spot by sending an email to ghoogest@usgs.gov and indicate which trip you'd like to attend (RC Erosion Control or Homestake Water System).

Possible zero waste solutions for the remediation of PFAS — An overview of emerging onsite destruction technologies
PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) are recalcitrant by nature and can be costly to remediate using traditional treatment strategies. These strategies typically lack an effective waste management strategy. In recent years, industry and research entities have made strides in developing new and innovative approaches to destroying PFAS onsite rather than having to dispose of high concentration waste at offsite treatment and/or disposal facilities. In this presentation, attendees will be provided an overview of these emerging technologies for the onsite destruction of PFAS waste streams that when incorporated into the primary treatment process/train have the potential to provide a zero "waste" outcome.
