New AIPG YouTube video: A Brief Introduction to Well-logs and Their Uses

In this video, Robert Font gives a brief explanation of the uses of well logs to understand porosity, determine the potential for fluids to be present, determine the presence of radioactivity, and to identify salt-water-rich layers. Dr. Font has received is Ph.D. from Texas A&M University. He was formerly and Associate Professor at Baylor University, a Project Supervisor for Conoco, and was President and Owner of GDM Inc. He is a Certified Professional Geologist and a EuroGeologist, and a member of AIPG.

August 31st - GTEC Underground Storage Tank Management And Compliance Assistance Seminar

To All AIPG Members: We recently gave you notice of two Annual Seminars presented by the Georgia Tank & Environmental Contractors (GTEC) Association.
The two seminars are Aug 31, 2021 at the KSU Continuing Ed Facility in Kennesaw and a repeat of the same seminar on Sep 14, 2021 at the UGA Conference Center in Tifton, GA.
GTEC has decided to be a little more aggressive in their recruitment of attendees and have reduced their attendance fees to make the seminars a little more attractive. For those of you who may have already registered to attend, GTEC assures us that the appropriate refunds will be given. If you need to follow up on your refund, contact Bill Greer at billgreer@gteca.com.
The Georgia Environmental Protection Division is assisting GTEC with these seminars to help you stay in compliance with your Underground Storage Tanks.

Geological analysis explains durability of Stonehenge megaliths

The first comprehensive scientific analysis of Stonehenge's imposing megaliths has revealed some of the traits that made them an exemplary building material for the famed monument in southern England including their stout resistance to weathering.
Researchers described a battery of examinations that provided a glimpse inside one of Stonehenge's 52 sandstone megaliths, known as sarsens, gaining insight into its geology and chemistry.
