GOLI on-demand online courses provide learners with the flexibility to self-pace their progress, since on-demand courses do not have a set schedule like traditional academic semester-based courses. Brought to you via the OpenedX Learning Management System (LMS), learners are able to browse course descriptions, enroll in specific courses, access content, and complete any course completely free of charge. All learners who complete online courses offered through the GOLI platform with a passing grade of 70% or higher are eligible to purchase Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for a nominal charge.

Post-depositional fluid flow in Jurassic sandstones of the Uncompahgre Uplift: Insights from magnetic fabrics

The anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility (AMS) in sedimentary rocks results from depositional, diagenetic, syn- and post-sedimentary processes that affect magnetic grains. Some studies have also shown the potential role played by post-depositional fluid flow in detrital and carbonate formations. Here we present a new case study of Middle-Upper Jurassic sandstones where secondary iron oxides, precipitated from fluids that migrated through pores, give rise to the AMS.

New geological findings from eastern Fennoscandia add new dimensions to the history of European Ice Age

In Finland, the majority of the glacial and warm interval records have been interpreted to represent only the last, Weichselian, glacial cycle that took place 11,700–119,000 years ago. Finnish researchers have now revised the crucial part of the existing stratigraphic documentation in southern Finland. The new findings show that a considerable part of the warm interval records extends further back in time than earlier thought. The new results change the established conceptions about glacial history in the area.

Researchers discover 16 million-year-old bat fossil

A new species of bat that is 16 million years old has been discovered by an international group that includes University of Valencia lecturers Francisco J. Ruiz Sánchez and Plini Montoya. The finding was made at the palaeontologic site of Mas d'Antolino B, in the town of l'Alcora, and corresponds to the lower Miocene in the Valencia region in Spain.
