As co-chair, and on behalf of the steering committee for the 2011 Jerry Jared HR ALA Gala, in honor of Jeanne Evans-Cox, I would like to thank all of you for your support this year.

We were pleased to see such a large attendance by NEXCOM, MCX, CGX, DeCA HQ, DeCA and exchange directors/managers from our ALA zone.

The GALA fundraiser was a tremendous success exceeding last year by 71 percent. All net proceeds will go to the HR ALA Scholarship fund and various charities. The HR ALA annual scholarships are awarded to deserving students who are family members of the military or the Military Resale System.

March sales show consumers confident but cautious

NEXCOM Wins 2010 SDDC Shipper Performance Award

The Navy Exchange Service Command has won the 2010 Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command Shipper Performance Award in the large shipper category. This is the second year in a row NEXCOM has won this award.

"We are excited to have won this award again," said Tom Williams, NEXCOM's senior vice president of logistics. "There are over 1,000 shippers vying for 15 awards, so the competition is fierce. I give credit to my entire transportation team for their hard work in making sure our merchandise is shipped correctly, accurately and on time."

The SDDC Shipper Performance Award is an ongoing effort to promote timely and accurate submission of documentation for shipments moving through the Defense Transportation System. The award recognized organizations that consistently submit on-time and error-free data.

In fiscal year 2010, NEXCOM shipped 417,208 measurement tons or 7,071 40-foot containers of product at a transportation cost of $36.7 million dollars.

NEXCOM received the award April 6 at the SDDC Training Symposium Banquet in Dallas.More
