By providing excellent service, creating stand-out reports, demonstrating professionalism when meeting with creditors and generally doing the little things right, you can reassure the forwarder that he or she made the right choice by choosing your firm.

House bill offers technical fix to FDCPA for collection attorneys
A bill introduced recently in the U.S. House of Representatives would exempt debt collection attorneys from the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act "when taking certain actions." The bill's supporters say that it is a technical fix that does not erode the consumer protections of the FDCPA.

CCEF alert: Describing the creditor

This year, courts have handed down increasingly broad interpretations of the FDCPA (42 U.S.C. § 1692g) regarding chain of title. If it's a legitimate and professional agency that has been certified by Commercial Law League of America or the International Association of Commercial Collectors, the answer is an absolute NO.
