Attention P.Geo.’s and Geoscientists-in-Training! If you are looking for an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to professional practice of geoscience, consider applying to be a member of the Geology Subcommittee. The Geology Subcommittee is looking to fill a number of volunteer positions and to grow its membership. The Geology Subcommittee extends the invitation to new professionals, GITs as well as to long standing registrants. PGO is very pleased to announce a new addition to the team, Sherin Chopra, who is taking on the role of Manager of Administration and Operations. Sherin is an integral part of a small but mighty team of PGO, providing support to the Registration team and managing the administration and operations needs of the organization. Sherin has accumulated over 12 years of solid experience in office management and operations through her administrative roles in education and property management sectors. PGO acknowledges Joanna Eyquem, P.Geo. for giving her time as a speaker at a PGO-hosted webinar on Irreversible Extreme Heat: Protecting Canadians and Communities from a Lethal Future. Her talk focused on adaptation and mitigation measures to reduce extreme heat risk to people and communities. Joanna highlighted practical actions that individuals, property owners/managers and communities can take to reduce risks and build resilience to extreme heat. She also encouraged everyone to share the new guidance to address irreversible extreme heat to increase awareness among Canadians about practical steps that we can take to contribute towards mitigation and adaptation measures. Sudbury duo honoured for Totten Mine rescue efforts

Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) has honoured two people from Sudbury for their rescue efforts during last year's rescue at Totten Mine.
Shawn Rideout, chief mine rescue officer at Ontario Mine Rescue, and Stephanie Bleker, manager of Vale Totten Mine, received the Mining Safety Leadership Medal from CIM Petroleum at its annual convention awards gala.
