Great Lakes Local Action Fund
Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP)
The Ontario Government is investing $1.67 million in the first round of the Great Lakes Local Action Fund to help Ontario protect, restore and conserve the Great Lakes. The program provides funding up to $50,000 for local small-scale community projects that have a positive environmental impact on the Great Lakes, as well as social or economic benefits for their communities. Deadline to apply for funding is November 6, 2020.

Laurentian University researchers receive federal funding to study permafrost

A team of Laurentian University professors is getting financial support from the federal government to support research into climate change and its effect on the permafrost.
The team is waiting on private contributions and a provincial contribution, but said in total about $600,000 will be put towards purchasing equipment and tools to conduct the research.
The work is being done by professors in a variety of departments, including mining, environment and biology.
